QUESTIONS & ANSWERS FOR CHRISTIAN COLLEGES
Do you currently have sessions available that can be used on Christian campuses?
Yes, we have several e-learning sessions we created for the general public which are excellent tools for training students and faculty. We are also in the process of creating new sessions specifically for Christian college students and faculty that will focus on scenarios that typically come up on Christian campuses. Please see below for release dates.
Why are you creating sessions for Christian college students and faculty?
In order to help students and faculty to have a biblical and effective approach to ethnic relations we must address "why?" (desire) and "how?" (expertise). Many campus-wide multicultural initiatives (chapels, guest speakers, diversity weeks, multicultural groups, etc.) are primarily focused on desire. We are finding an increasing number of students and faculty who desire biblical ethnic relations but who do not have the expertise necessary to handle everyday cross-cultural situations in a biblical and effective way.
Multicultural initiatives that do emphasize expertise (intercultural courses, short-term trips, training workshops, etc.) are typically either too time consuming or expensive to be implemented campus-wide. Therefore, in many cases, a small subset (~5% or less) of the students and faculty are adequetely equipped. As a result, cross-cultural tensions continue to hinder student/faculty dynamics as well as the recruiting and retention of students/faculty of color. Tragically, many students are graduating who are ill-equipped to lead in our increasingly multicultural society.
What are the objectives of the sessions you are creating?
What are leaders saying about this new program?
"So many commercial diversity related products just dont work for Christian institutions. ReNews programs are based on a biblical understanding of diversity and reconciliation and they are available in a very accessible, non-threatening format. So often our students say things like, "Quit cramming diversity down my throat!" ReNew understands that reaction and meets students where they are with a case study, scenario based curriculum that doesnt come across as preachy or condemning. I will be encouraging my staff, and faculty at my university to incorporate ReNews new e-learning diversity curriculum."
- Carl A. Ruby, Vice President for Student Life at Cedarville University
"The ReNew E-learning Program is one of the most exciting and effective cross-cultural training tools I have ever seen. There is nothing like it. It provides an outstanding opportunity for people to learn from top multi-ethnic experts and practitioners in a personal, practical, and interactive way. And, the sessions are inexpensive enough that anyone can use them. As I have spoken and facilitated training for leaders across the country, I have often longed for an effective training resource that might be available to all people regardless of location or budget and this is it!"
- Dr. Brenda Salter McNeil, President of Salter McNeil and Associates

How does pricing and billing work if we have multiple departments that wish to use the session?
We can provide a multi-department quote which allows you to receive the maximum discount possible (based on your organization's total purchase) without needing to go through the time and hassle of trying to have all departments coordinate on making a single, combined purchase. We can also invoice each department separately to simplify your accounting and budgeting.
Can you tell me about your organization?
Our ministry, ReNew Partnerships, provides innovative, biblical multicultural training that is created with the input of top experts and practitioners. You may be familiar with our website, newsletter, e-learning sessions, or the workshops our team has led at conferences like NCMSLC, Ignite, CCDA, Beyond Tolerance, G92, SCORR, etc. Our ministry has been featured in a variety of websites and publications including the book Ethnic Blends by Dr. Mark DeYmaz (Zondervan, p.26). You can learn all about our organization and the partners and clients we have worked with by visiting the our ministry section of our website. Please click back on your browser to return to this page when you are finished.
What training tools have you created in the past?
We have worked with nationally-recognized experts like Dr. Brenda Salter-McNeil, Dr. Michael Emerson, and Dr. David Anderson to create e-learning sessions. Our team has also created on-site training programs for: college students, board of directors, campus ministry staff, pastors and church leaders, ministry teams, etc.
How do you design the sessions?
Sessions typically take 1-2 years to design. We use an e-learning design process based on the research of top e-learning and educational pyschology experts. Throughout the process we get input from Christian college students/faculty and from experts like Dr. George Yancey, Dr. Brenda Salter-McNeil, and Dr. Michael Emerson to make sure the content is engaging, accurate, and effective.
Can students and/or faculty on our campus help with the design of the sessions?
Yes! We would like to expand the number of Christian college students and faculty that are giving their input throughout the design process. Click here to learn what is involved. You and others on your campus can sign up to help by filling out this form.
How long does it take to go through the sessions?
Each session contains three sections (A, B, C) which take about 1 hour each to complete. Therefore, the entire session typically takes about 2-3 hours to complete for most trainees. Trainees do not need to take each section or the entire session at one time--they can re-enter the session as many times as they like and complete the session at their own pace.
Do trainees receive a certificate of completion?
Yes. After trainees complete a session, they are able to print a Certificate of Completion similar to the example on the right. Before they can print the certificate they must indicate that they have completed the following for each of the three sections:
Are the sessions designed to train individuals or groups?
Both! Our sessions are designed to be gone through individually and then, if possible, discussed with friends or a small group. Each person should go through the session on their own because their experience will be different based on how they navigate through the scenario, which videos they watch, etc. They will learn even more if they can discuss what they've learned with others after they are finished.
